HOT/COLD THERAPY
EXCERPT FROM NAMASTE 2.0
“I had allergy symptoms for over two decades. I searched for the cause with allergy specialists, dieticians, and naturopaths and continually came up empty-handed, as nothing relieved my constant congestion. Acupuncture was also on the agenda, but that was only a Band-Aid remedy, addressing the symptoms, not the cause. My brother introduced me to a hot/cold therapy spa here in Toronto called Othership, where you alternate between a sauna (85°C) and an ice bath (2 to 5°C). Since my first visit to the hot/cold spa, I have yet to need a decongestant nasal spray to allow me to breathe correctly; it’s been over a year. The therapy is extreme and quite intense, but it works. The critical function of the hot/cold spa is the reduction/elimination of inflammation in the body—I visit the spa once a month, as it bodes well for ridding my body of the lactic acid produced after workouts. I’ve said it before, and I’ll remind you that organic healing has us doing the hard work; this therapy is not for the faint of heart. Until my brother introduced me to the hot/cold spa, I had never heard of this cutting-edge therapy, even though I thought I had a constant ear to the ground with this sort of venture. Thus, it begs the question: what other forms of organic healing am I missing out on? One of the goals of the Namaste Movement will be the sharing of this type of self-governed therapy. For the record, I’m no doctor or specialist giving you medical advice—I can only tell a tale of good intel received from direct experience.” Dane A.Vemb |
