LOGO DESIGN CHALLENGE
“… a website for the people, by the people.” The first order of business for the community is to develop a great logo and colour scheme. I have chosen 'neon' baby blue and pink for the colours of my design entry … soothing on their own, yet boldness and vibrancy shine through when combined. The community name, NAMASTE MOVEMENT, and its mantra (LEARN, TEACH, PEER, CREATE) are what participants have to work with for their design concept. All NM members are encouraged to participate in the challenge, with the winning design decided by a vote from within the community. |
Submit your entry by email with 'LOGO DESIGN' in the subject line.
I’ve chosen the initials of the community name with a double arrow for the Namaste Movement logo to depict movement. The two-letter, double-arrow concept lends itself well to the two-colour, black background scheme.

With my design concept, I went with the ‘neon’ blue and pink colours because of the need for boldness. The branding for the community name, mantra and logo must be unique and vibrant so that when someone sees it at first glance, it will register as the Namaste Movement—which is desirable when entering the final few phases of the NAMASTE 2.0 CREATIVE CHALLENGE.
What gives the community and mantra the extra exuberance is the Academy Engraved Lettering font; I love the two-dimensional vibe it throws off. Although my design concept is simple, it gives the community the framework to create a fabulous, eye-catching brand for the Namaste Movement, heavy on boldness and vibrancy. On the subject of fonts, you'll notice the headlines for each page here on the Weebly site utilize a different font than the one depicted in my concept. Weebly doesn't have the Academy font; the closest is NEORETRODRAW. I'm new to website design, but I know that I must change some of the source code to input a plug-in for the Academy font. It's irrelevant if we're having a Logo Design Contest. I’ve been on Shutterstock and Pinterest with ‘blue and pink logos’ as the search parameters ... fabulous, especially when purple enters into the equation like some of these logo concepts. The three colours are harmonious with one another, made even more so when there are different hues of each colour. Some of the logo concepts I saw incorporated blending techniques of the different hues using computer graphics—resembling airbrush or fantastic ink work. I have a grandiose idea for the grassroots members who ‘dig on the vibe.’ I’ll get some swag made up with my original branding and do a small production line. A couple of years down the road, when the aforementioned swag becomes vintage, I’ll be glad I got two tees and a ball cap! The framework is there; let the fun begin. Who will come up with the winning design concept for the Namaste Movement? |
